Time is running out in the countdown to Christmas. And time is running out too for girls like 15-year-old Siamini, who would not be able to go to school in the New Year without your help. Siamini was sent from her rural village in Tanzania to work as a domestic servant in the urban centre of Iringa as soon as she finished primary school. But with Camfed’s support, she is about to begin her second year of secondary school in January.
“Education is life-changing. If you make a Christmas donation to this highly practical charity you will change lives.” Hilary Wilce, The IndependentThis Christmas, you can help Camfed to change the lives of girls like Siamini by giving the gift of education. By choosing one of the gifts below on behalf of your family and friends, you can help to open doors of opportunity for girls across rural Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Ghana who would otherwise not be able to go to school.
Camfed will send a card to your loved ones telling them about the inspirational present you have bought on their behalf.
Gifts include:
- Strong School Shoes - Girls often have to walk long distances to and from school each day. Ease the journey for one girl by purchasing a sturdy pair of school shoes that will set her on the path to success.
- New School Uniform - A school uniform is not just a requirement, but a key to confidence for a girl from a poor rural family. A new school uniform is the boost of self-esteem she needs to speak up in class and do her best.
- Back to School Pack - Give a girl the tools she needs to make the most of the education that will transform her life, including a year’s worth of books, pens and stationery.
This Christmas you can really make a difference – giving a girl in Africa the education that will make the difference between a life of opportunity and a life trapped in poverty. By choosing one of Camfed’s gifts for your family and friends, you can unlock a girl’s potential by helping her to go to school.
