Dr Stella Bendera, Camfed Tanzania Board Member
Dr Stella Bendera is a leading activist in girls’ education in Tanzania. Stella held key positions in the Ministry of Education including coordinating the Girls’ Secondary Education Support (GSES) programme – a national bursary programme that supported 4,000 girls to attend school. She holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and has published a number of research papers on gender and education in Tanzania for the Ministry of Education, the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex University and the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE).
Dr Bendera is currently the Diversity Expert in the Gender Unit of the President’s Office, Public Service Management.
