Dr Isaiah Sibanda (Chair), Camfed Zimbabwe Board Member

When Ann Cotton first travelled to Zimbabwe in 1991 to carry out research into girls’ education, one of the first people she met was Dr Isaiah Sibanda – who was Permanent Secretary for Education and Culture from 1988 to 1994. He was quickly convinced by Ann’s vision to set up an organisation that would help girls go to school in some the most neglected rural regions of Zimbabwe.

Dr Sibanda was one of the first people to join the Camfed Zimbabwe board, and has played a vital role as a board member ever since. In 2002, Dr Sibanda retired from his role in the government administration and became a lecturer at the University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo.
